What North East asks of a system.
The north east has generous roof area and generous tree cover, often on the same block. Eltham and Research in particular are heavily treed by design, and a shading survey there changes the answer more than anywhere else in Melbourne.
Where the trees allow it, these are excellent solar roofs — large, simple, well oriented, on homes with the consumption to use what they generate. Bushfire overlay applies in parts of the outer north east and affects equipment placement and cabling.
